Description: |
Carved gray basalt sculpture depicting an old man leaning forward holding a support pole with both hands, with the pole propped under his chin. Relief carved expressive facial features having sunken cheeks with high cheek bones. Wearing a pointed headdress having a fantail rear element. Integral tapered rectangular base. Overall excellent ancient surface patina. Some ancient loss to the front tip of the base, otherwise intact. Custom fitted black lucite rectangular base. A rare example. |
