| Description: |
Fine polychrome painted pottery cylinder vase, depicting a tribute scene at the Ik’a palace gathering, set with a cloth draped ceiling. One “fat Cacique” is seated on a platform throne, and in front of him is a kneeling figure. On either side of these two figures are additional attendants, two on the left and one at the right with a shield and weapon, probably a guard. Five figures in total. Glyph band around the rim, repeats the month date (12Wo)- Lords of Windy Waters. Repaired from approximately four large original pieces, some very minor scattered paint wear, otherwise overall exc. cond. A rare and beautiful example. |
