Description: |
Pottery vessel having a stirrup type spout, and depicting a turtle deity. The mythological being with anthropomorphic features sits erect and has placed his hands on his stomach. The wrinkled neck with its tapering snapper type mouth is directed upwards. Reddish-orange with cream slip surface. Scattered mineral deposits on the surface. Repaired from approximately eight large original pieces with restoration over the break lines. A rare type. |
