Description: |
Circular shallow feast bowl carved of hardwood, the exterior carved with relief medallion at center enclosing an abstract linear detailed frog form, with fish at sides. Perforated lug band at base of tail for suspension. Platters and large bowls like this one were used during dancing festivals, pig exchanges and initiation ceremonies. Medium brown patina. Age cracked along base with leather tie reinforcements, age cracks. |
