Fine carved basalt figural braizer depicting Huehueteotl, the old fire god, with his hands resting on his knees and legs crossed. Head held in a forward position, very expressive facial features with wrinkled sunken cheeks. Wearing a banded headdress having a carved braizer bowl in the top of his head. Overall remaining traces of a reddish-brown surface deposits, excellent ancient patina. Two minor ancient rim chips, otherwise intact, overall exc. cond. A top quality example. |
