Description: |
Red-brown pottery vessel depicting an armadillo having a wide open spout at the rear. Standing on four short legs and having a plated back shell with stippled details on the front and rear plates. With black painted underbelly. Scattered areas of mineral deposits on the surface. Rear spout portion reattached with restoration over the exterior break line, otherwise intact, overall exc. cond. Depictions of armadillos are quite rare in Colima sculpture. |
