Description: |
Matching pair of pottery bowls, each decorated on the interior with two large, polychrome painted fish, facing in opposite directions. Some scattered mineral deposits. One bowl has a 1” restored rim chip, and a 1/2” restored rim flake, otherwise intact. The other bowl is intact. This is a typical motif in Nazca Phase 3 ceramics and may represent fish that were eaten. Similar bowls are known with single or double fish or birds. This bowl pair was obviously painted by the same artist. |
