Description: |
Large, buff terracotta head off a full figure. The wide face is painted almost entirely with black chapopote save for the sclera part of the bulging eyes and the well defined teeth recessed beneath wide, thin lips. The very angular and pointy nose flares at the base and he wears a chin strap extenting to the temples. Ear spools and bundle ornaments at top. Large, square firing hole on reverse. Base has been built up to make this a freestanding head, restoration to bottom left head bundle, left ear and tip of central horn, and a chip on lower right eyelid. |
