Description: |
Exceptional carved deep green-black serpentine stone standing figure, holding both hands over his waist. Depicted with a large, beautifully carved tapered head, having an arched nose, long tap ears, open mouth and a heavy browline. Buttocks and shoulders carved in an elegant rounded form, long oval openwork spaces between his torso and arms. Excellent ancient surface patina with remaining traces of red-brown cinnabar pigment and surface deposits. Natural veining throughout. Head and tips of feet reattached, and a repaired diagonal break across his torso. A top quality beautifully sculpted example. |
