Description: |
Carved rectangular wood door for a granary, with relief image of a buffalo head, “kerbau”, with high relief head with circular eyes and metal pupil inlay, the hanging ears, short horizontal horn, and heartshaped vertical hrons in low relief. Surfacewear and some loss particularly at top of door, bottom hinge worn away, one eye inlay lost. Tan-brown matte dry patina.
The “kerbau” buffalo horn symbolizes fertility and prosperity.
