Description: Monumental size redware pottery standing female figure depicted with wide rounded hips, pointy breasts, short arms held away from her sides and a large head with a tall tapered headdress with incised zigzag decoration. Expressive facial features with wide narrow eyes, small oval recessed mouth and arched brows. Wearing small ear spools. Perforated navel. Overall scattered mineral deposits on the surface. Repaired from approximately fourteen original pieces with restoration over the break lines. Old custom lucite block base. A very rare and impressive example in the size.
Provenance: CIRAM TL report # 0419-OA-34N-4. Ex. Ricardo Fernandez, Spain. Emigrated to Mexico in the 1940’s. This figure was brought to Miami, FL. between 1968-1969. By descent to his daughter, Mrs. Marlene Fernandez Pineda. Then to Alicia & Enrique Bermudez in 2015.
