| Description: |
Two different pottery heads, originally from figures, including a Veracruz shaman’s head having a cropped striated hairdo painted with black bitumen, and painted around his open mouth, exhibiting a single ceremonial filed tooth. Wearing small disc ear ornaments. Some remaining traces of pink and white surface pigment. Missing the tip of his right ear, otherwise intact. Old custom hardwood base. Together with a Tumaco molded pottery head, wearing a dome type headdress, a small disc ear ornament and nose ring. Some loss to the back of the neck, and minor ancient edge loss on his left ear. Custom base. |
