Description: |
Important and large ceremonial vessel, constructed of sheet gold, having a long slender spout connected to an openwork decorated sheet gold bridge. Other end of bridge connected to the back of the figure who stands on a sheet gold constructed box form body, relief decorated with columns of diamond shape elements. The figure depicts Nayalam also called Nayalap, the Emperor of the Sican Empire standing under a temple roof, holding a Kero vessel in both Hands. The figure is made from two gold sheets and has remains of a carved wood figure inside. Some, as expected, minor imperfections, otherwise intact. This type of ceremonial vessel, made of sheet gold, are extremely rare, possibly unique. |
