Description: Large and fancy polychrome painted pottery bottle depicting either a semiabstract feline or owl, having two opposing faces with raised feather-like crests surrounding an elaborately incised face with abstract features. Two opposing panels at the base of the neck having similar incised faces. The construction of the bottle started with a simple form, a bottle with a single tall straight spout. Clay slabs were attached bordering the faces, to create an expanded surface on which incised details were added. Overall scattered surface and mineral deposits. Spout and a few of the feathers reattached, break line left visible around the base/ shoulder of the vessel, otherwise intact. A very rare and impressive example.
