Description: |
Very large orangeware pottery standing horse, stocky full-bodied horse standing foursquare, with sturdy legs and large hooves, the separately molded head with bulging eyes, ears perked up in a lively attitude, and the mouth open. The short detachable tail is slightly kinked and ending in a knot. The legs have been reattached with restoration over the break lines. Overall scattered areas of mineral deposits and surface encrustation. Body has been repaired from approximately six large original pieces, all have restoration over the break lines, an area of resurfacing on the right front upper portion of his leg. Head is intact. A rare and very impressive example. |
