Description: |
Excellent elongated classic ovoid shield used for protection against spears and boomerang projectiles. The front with tapered edges is deeply carved with “pandal” a zigzag motif in three sections, and highlighted in white ochre, red-brown pigment, and the back is also deeply grooved along length and along convex curved handle. Some pigment loss, wear along edges, indicative of the age and use. Deep brown patina, and dry patina on front.
