Description: |
An old copy of a Medieval style helmet, the type originally from the 14th - 15th century A.D., referred to as an iron Great Helm. It has a barrel-shaped design made by assembling large iron sheets and skillfully riveting them together. It has small rectangular openings at the front for limited vision and rows of holes for ventilation. Great Helms were important elements of the armour of knights, symbolizing their status and offering strong protection in medieval battles. Overall rusty brown surface patina. Intact, exc. cond. |
