Bateba figure in an elongated linear form, depicting a male standing with his right hand at his chest. The figure features a narrow torso, long limbs and neck, rounded buttocks, and a face with prominent, bulging eyes. Smooth patina in light to medium brown tones. Right hand lost, hairline crack along back. Custom base.
Bateba are kept in shrines as living entities, believed to see, communicate, and actively intervene in Lobi village life, offering protection against disease and witchcraft. |
