| Description: |
A finely shaped Caddo pottery water bottle with a rounded globular body and tall, slender neck. The shoulder is decorated with a continuous band of incised swirling motifs, carefully cut into the surface to form rhythmic, curving patterns that encircle the vessel. The elegant proportions and controlled incised design are characteristic of Caddo ceramic traditions, whose potters were renowned for their refined forms and balanced surface decoration. Bottles of this type were commonly used to store and pour liquids and appear frequently in both domestic and ceremonial contexts throughout the Mississippian world.
Fair condition. Professionally repaired with restoration over break lines; all done very well and difficult to notice. Some light surface wear as shown, but, otherwise, excellent presentation with nice preservation of incised decoration.
