Description: |
Large hollow pottery head of an adolescent, with hair tufts on his forehead. Beautifully sculpted, sensitive facial features, parted lips revealing two front teeth, and wearing small ear spools. Some remaining traces of red surface pigment. Scattered mineral deposits and root marks. Restored diagonal breakline on the right side between the nose and cheek, repaired from four original pieces with some resurfacing over the breaklines, mostly on the top left side of the of head. An exceptional and rare example. Old custom lucite base. |
