Large carved hardwood standing figure of St. Anthony, depicted with a long full beard and a long striated hairdo. Wearing a floor length drapery garment and a cape. A small animal at his feet, missing his head. Carved half-round, with a hollowed out reverse. Overall deep rich brown patina. Missing both hands and nose, once having an overall painted surface, now gone with only a few remaining traces. Examples this early are quite scarce. |
