| Description: |
High relief fossil trilobite, an early extinct marine arthropod recognized by its distinctive three-segmented, ribbed form. Trilobites, like other arthropods, had an external skeleton, or exoskeleton composed of chitinous material. For the animal to grow, the exoskeleton had to be shed, and shed trilobite exoskeletons. some scattered minor spots of restoration, and the entire surface of the fossil has been blackened, to hide the restoration, otherwise intact. |
