| Description: |
Differentially fired cream to blackware pottery Olmec straight-sided flat bottomed bowl with the excised schematic flame eyebrow of the Olmec Dragon. Parts of the vessel exhibit fire clouding, which sometimes occurs on the surfaces of vessels produced in pit firings. Olmec artisans were extremely adept at using the pars pro toto principle, in which a part or parts of an image could represent the whole. Overall scattered mineral deposits. A minor rim flake, otherwise intact, exc. cond. A beautiful example.
